Happy Easter ‘Filling and Pouring’ Family!
What we celebrate at Easter is perhaps the zenith of the story presented in the bible; where whilst we (mankind) were dead in our trespasses a Holy and Just God demonstrated his unfathomable reconciling love to humanity. On the cross we see an accumulation of hundreds of years of prophecy, where after numerous failed covenants the chasm between God and man is securely bridged. The cross exemplifies God's infinite wisdom; marrying his supreme justice with his loving mercy.
Good Friday
At Calvary, the greatest expression of love ever is displayed. A perfect, blameless man who never wronged a soul looks at you and I and deems it worth it to lay his life down. He made a retroactive sacrifice, fully aware that many will not accept his outstretched hand. His raison d'etre was made clear in John 4: 34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” and on that day he said “Tetelestai” meaning “it is finished.”
He is Risen!
Without the resurrection, it all would've been void. Just as he said in John 2:19, he rose again on the third day. I love how Colossians 2:15 puts it “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Now simply by believing in what Christ did on the cross, we’re made children of God.
Here’s some scripture to reflect on, this Easter Sunday:
John 11:25-26 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Romans 10:9 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Philippians 2:8-9 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
Romans 5:8 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
