Midway through the week, let’s go!!
Earlier this month I turned 20. Honestly, I feel old (some of you older readers are probably like “get a load of this guy”.) If I’m to be honest, one of the things that has been on my mind is my achievements not feeling as special/big when I’m older. I’ve dismissed these thoughts, for reasons related to last week’s post about where we derive our worth (which you can read here,) but I’m sure many others who have done a lot so young have felt similarly.
Today’s piece is a relatively short one, lessons I’ve learned going into age 20.
Times of solitude are important, afford yourself the TIME and SPACE to feel emotion.
Work out of rest, not for.
Don’t derive your self-worth/value from what you do, rather know your value comes from he who made you.
Document/ take stock of events, emotions, and interactions. Reflecting forces you to be more aware of your emotions and see God in everything.
The things that matter most, aren’t things.
Enjoy life, heaven doesn’t accept Apple Pay.
You’re way more productive if you take periods of rest.
The things that really stand the test of time change people’s patterns of living and outlook for generations.
If you’re too busy for your spiritual disciplines, you’re over-occupied/distracted.
Even in the seemingly hopeless situations, God’s plan is better.
Christ felt emotions, who are you not to?
Single acts of obedience and faith can drastically change many lives.
God made you with all your gifts and your limitations. Showcase the gifts and embrace the limitations.
You can win the argument and lose the soul, but also “lose” the argument and win the soul.
Many are inspired just by how you live.
At every stage, put the ladder down for the people behind you.
Toning yourself down/not living your fully authentic self does more damage to you and the world. You want to leave the world empty, completely “poured out.”
There’s a light in you don’t, through false humility, fail to let the world see and experience that light.
You have nothing, at all, to prove.
Listen to the spirit the first time, if you don’t it gets more difficult to leave that indulgence with time.
One extra because you guys are great (actually that’s a lie, not the you’re great part, but it’s actually because I couldn’t narrow them down.)
Slow down and declutter your life as much as possible to live an unhurried, present, fruitful life like Christ.
Keep pouring out and getting filled up.
