Gaining a scholarship to play football in the US was one of my greatest sporting accomplishments, so naturally I completely lost myself once i found out that I couldn’t go due to family circumstance. Thinking back on it now, it was definitely a blessing in disguise. I have found my home in a different team and have been blessed with unbelievable opportunities all while studying to be a paramedic. Thinking back to this always reminds that God’s plan always triumphs the ones we create for ourselves.

As an Oxbridge reject myself I never wanted something that bad and I felt like I couldn’t make the impact I dreamed of without the prestige of those institutions. I’m still not where I’d like to be but God has given me a new understanding of what impact looks like. Now I’m so grateful to God because every no along the way was a yes to His plans for me. And day by day I can testify that those plans are working for my good 🌟

I think Naturally we as humans tend to want certain things in life to almost ‘live up to expectations’ of what people think of us (whatever that may be for you).

Expectations whilst uncontrollable can be toxic to an extent, purely because of how it can alter your feelings towards certain goals, and how it makes you feel when it’s not fulfilled. It’s clear that many would’ve expected you to get into Oxbridge, and I feel like that played a huge part in you wanting it more then your heart truly desired. What was your end goal at that age? What would Oxbridge have brought you that you don’t have today? Would Oxbridge aid you in achieving that goal you desired at that age or is the situation your in right now better? I think these questions will help me and you understand better why you actually wanted to get into Oxbridge so bad.

Aswell as this, I think it’s really important to remember it’s you against you in this life, not you against someone else. We may all get to the same destination, but with a different journey and you need to embrace that and have faith in it.

All in all, Gods plan was for you not to get in and I hope your reaping the benefits of this now. I think this quote resonates well with your journey:

“ They plan, and God plans, and God is the best of all planners”

Great post as always!

Aziz
